The YWCA of Canberra’s Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre operates in Conder in the South Tuggeranong region of Canberra. The Community Centre operates within a community development framework and delivers activities, information and support that aims to empower community members, promote linkages and enhance community participation.
Mura Lanyon Community Centre is a drug-free, alcohol-free and violence-free zone.
A Community Development Worker is based at Mura to oversee the running of the Centre and provide support and information to user groups and the local community. Assistance is also provided to people seeking to set up new community groups.
The Community Centre is currently closed for redevelopment. It is expected to reopen in June 2012.
